March 2023

Hello Families!

I hope you’re all having a great start to March. God’s word does not change, it is always relevant in our lives. Duet. 6: 5-7 encourages us to teach God’s word to our children and talk about Him daily. Take some time today to talk with your kid’s about the things of God! You will be blessed and so will He.

Family Devotion Topics

Mar. 5th Focus: “God is merciful.” Family Reading: Mark 10:46-52.

In this passage we read the story of blind Bartimaeus. Notice that Bartimaeus’ faith in Jesus initiated his healing. Jesus didn’t say “Because you’ve lived a good life in spite of your hardship, I’ll heal you.” He didn’t say “Because your parents were faithful to Me, I’ll give you sight.” Jesus responded to his faith. Things haven’t changed: Jesus responds to our needs on the basis of faith, not because of any good we have done. Jesus shows He cares for us by taking care of our needs as we acknowledge our dependence upon Him.

Mar. 12th Focus: “Jesus is worthy of our commitment.” Family Reading: Mark 8:31-38.

In the Bible , Jesus gives us clear instructions for making a commitment to Him. He says that if we want to come after Him, we need to deny ourselves and take up our crosses. This means that people who are committed to Jesus do what Jesus wants them to do. Jesus wants us to follow Him all the time– even when it’s hard and even when we don’t want to.

Mar. 19th Focus: “God deserves our sincere worship.” Family Reading: John 2:13-22.

God desire’s us to come into His house and worship Him with a heart of sincerity. Jesus’ passion in this account reveals that he desires a real relationship with His people. Nothing—no money changers or legalism– can get in the way of His love for you.

Mar. 26th Focus: “Jesus explains why God sent Him.” Family Reading: John 3:12-21.

Jesus’ message for Nicodemus and for us today is that following all the religious rules won’t win us God’s favor. God has a different plan, because all the good we could ever do won’t wipe out a single sin. Only Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, paying the death penalty for us, makes it possible for us to enter heaven. And only our response in faith to that offer and to the Holy Spirits working in our lives will seal the deal.
